Precision Services

Precision Performance Collective provides evidence-based precision medical care without upselling expensive, unscientific treatments. We focus on science-backed care that is unavailable in the standard healthcare system, often due to insurance limitations. Our model is centered around two goals — preventative care that lowers your risk for deadly and debilitating diseases while optimizing your current health.

Our Services

We currently offer the below services fully in-house. We offer additional ancillary services with external relationships. All services are available to all Access Members.

  • Cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks and stroke, remain, despite decades of medical advancements, the leading cause of death in the US. Both are ultimately caused by atherosclerotic disease. We work to aggressively assess and lower your risk for these diseases in ways far beyond what your typical primary care provider does.

Our workups include genetic testing, advanced lipid testing, advanced imaging tests, and detailed lifestyle assessment. Our treatments include dietary modifications, exercise training and coaching, medications (if needed), and continued reassessment of biomarkers to track progress. Our treatment approach differs from standard approaches because we focus on addressing the root cause of high lipid levels (typically diet and lifestyle) before jumping to medications.

  • Cancer is the second-leading cause of death in the US. Despite medical advancements, mortality rates for late-stage (3 and 4) cancers remain high and, for most, almost unchanged from 50 years ago. We work to prevent the development of cancers using lifestyle modification, but our ability to do this is somewhat limited. Therefore, we use early detection methods to detect cancer while it remains in the easier-to-treat early stages. For most cancers, 5-year survival rates range from 5-25% for a late-stage diagnosis, versus 90% or better for early-stage diagnosis.

We recommend genetic testing for most patients (see below). We then integrate this with your clinical characteristics to determine your screening needs for specific cancers. Most screening tests we then recommend are advanced, cutting-edge blood-based (rather than imaging-based) tests. The specific tests we recommend vary widely based on your age, risk factors, and risk tolerance.

  • Insulin Resistance — the hallmark of Metabolic Syndrome and precursor to Diabetes — is rapidly becoming the leading risk factor for many diseases, including heart disease and cancer. Every individual is different, but this often has roots in dietary habits as well as a sedentary lifestyle. Some patients have powerful genetic components of risk.

Our workup includes various advanced biomarkers to detect Insulin Resistance years before it progresses to diabetes or manifests as obesity. These go beyond the HbA1c test typically used in primary care. If present, our treatments include dietary and exercise modifications. Labs are frequently repeated to track progress. We use continuous glucose monitors if appropriate.

  • We offer any genetic testing services you need, with our in-house team of physician, PhD epigeneticist, and genetic counselor.

We recommend almost all patients perform genomic testing for specific diseases (such as the ones above). These tests look at a very large number of genes that are all associated with slight nudges "towards” or “away” from disease. We then integrate this with your clinical features (age, family history, biomarkers, etc.) and combine this with large datasets to make predictive statements about your health. We then change your preventative screening schedule based on these findings.

We also offer full genome/exome sequencing and interpretation, as well as testing for single-gene mutations such as BRCA.

  • If you’re looking for advanced, on-demand laboratory testing and interpretation, we offer this at competitive prices. You pay our negotiated, low-cost rates on all lab testing plus a nominal interpretation fee. We will help guide your testing to ensure you’re only paying for actionable, helpful labs that you need. We’re more flexible, reliable, and oftentimes more affordable than other options. You will have your labs interpreted by your physician, and discussed with you every time — not left to interpret them on your own, with the help of an AI-generated summary.

We offer mobile phlebotomy services at your home or lab draws at facilities, depending on your preference.

  • Our nutritional recommendations are not generic. We use your genetic and laboratory test results to make recommendations that are tailored to your specific body and physiological requirements. Changing dietary habits can take a long time, and we use laboratory results to keep you motivated and informed.

We generally advocate a diet strategy centered on whole foods, with minimal refined carbohydrates.

  • We offer remote and in-person integrated athletic training, from strength training programs to conditioning programs to prepare for race day. Our program differs from standard personal training programs because of the tight coordination between your trainer and physician. This has synergistic benefits as trainer, physician, and client work together to improve your performance and recovery, while seeing additional benefits in your health. We also use wearable metrics such as Heart Rate Variability (HRV) to monitor and improve your performance.

The majority of our strength and athletic training programs are offered by our in-house exercise physiologist/physical therapist.

  • We strive to stay up to date on other aspects of your lifestyle that affect your health — areas often overlooked in standard care models. We will discuss with you any environmental factors that could be negatively impacting your health, and work together on testing and mitigation strategies. This can include everything from poor indoor air quality (which promotes cancer development) to the utensils you use to cook your food.

Our recommendations are powered by primary research reviews performed by our PhD Environmental Epigeneticist — not podcasts or YouTube videos.

  • We make evidence-based recommendations for supplements to enhance your health and athletic performance. These can be especially effective in certain situations. These recommendations are always based on peer-reviewed data, not on manufacturer claims. We use various biomarkers (either lab-based or wearable) to assess your response and help you decide whether the supplement is effective for you.

We do not directly sell supplements as we believe this creates an unavoidable conflict of interest. However, our patients have access to our negotiated discount rates with several respected manufacturers, such as Thorne.

  • Access to your physician should be simple, straightforward, and meaningful. All care plans are personalized specifically to you — your genetics, clinical metrics, risk tolerance, and interests. You will communicate directly with your physician — there is no gatekeeping front desk to get through first.

Your Questions, Answered

  • We are a direct care practice, and therefore do not work with insurance companies. This allows us to offer a higher level of care.

We do provide a “superbill” that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Almost all of your charges (with the exception of the monthly access fee) should count towards your out-of-pocket max; some may be reimbursed directly, and some may only count towards your deductible. As is typical with the insurance companies, there is often no way to tell until after the claim has been processed.

  • Yes, we do! HSA/FSA accounts can be used to pay for all Precision Performance services.

When our membership fee increases, you will no longer be able to pay this fee with your HSA; the IRS has determined that any patient paying more than $150/month in membership fees from their HSA shall be ineligible to contribute further funds to their HSA. However, you will still be able to pay all other expenses (testing, etc) from your HSA.

  • Not really. While we share some similarities with a concierge medicine-style practice, there are some pretty significant differences. First, we see patients by appointment, during business hours only. We do not bill insurance for any services, which some concierge practices do. We hope patients are coming to us because they want a specialist in preventative care, not (just) convenience, as is common in concierge practices.
